Heading into 2018

Connie Lacy, author blog post

As 2017 draws to a close, I’m gratified I achieved my goals of publishing “Aerosol Sky,” the final installment of “The Shade Ring Trilogy,” and getting my Sixties novel published as well. “A Daffodil for Angie” is available in both ebook and paperback through Amazon, as are all of my other books.

Another of my goals is to make it available in bookstores. To accomplish that, I set up my own publishing imprint this fall – Wild Falls Publishing – so I can now print “A Daffodil for Angie” through IngramSpark, in addition to printing it through Amazon's print-on-demand subsidiary, Createspace. Doing that means bookstores are more likely to order and stock it.

2017 was a busy year. And I'm looking forward to 2018. I have several projects I’m developing. In the coming weeks I’ll be creating a plan for my writing so the new year will hopefully be as productive as 2017 was.

One of the things I had to do with the publication of my sixth book was to modify my author bio. It now says I write speculative fiction, magical realism and historical fiction. I also write both young adult novels and adult novels. A lot of authors stick to just one genre, making it easier to market their books. But I have different stories I want to tell. And if they’re in different genres, well then, so be it.

One thing all of my books have in common (so far) is that they’re about a young woman facing tough challenges and doing her best to overcome them. I, myself, enjoy reading speculative fiction, magical realism and historical fiction, along with some other genres. I also read young adult books and adult fiction, although I’m not a big fan of novels with graphic sex scenes. (lol) I’m hoping there are a good many readers like me who have a somewhat eclectic taste in books.

Here's to inspiration, creativity and more books in the new year!
